Long before clans ruled the Highlands, the Picts brewed a sacred ale of wild heather and pine, a drink meant to summon courage and bind warriors to the land. Though their people vanished, the recipe lingered in legend — carved into forgotten stones and whispered through generations.
Centuries later, those stories reached William Wallace, who sought a spirit strong enough to unite Scotland. He brewed the ancient mixture before battle, calling on the courage of the Painted People. His men swore it warmed their hearts like fire on the moors. Years after, Robert the Bruce revived the same tradition on the eve of Bannockburn, honouring Wallace and the warriors of ages past. With every cup, the clans felt the strength of their ancestors rise within them. Today, that ancient brew returns as Braveheart — a Wee Heavy forged from heather, pine, and oats. A tribute to the Picts, to Wallace, to Bruce, and to all who carry the spirit of the Highlands. A beer for the strong of heart.
Braveheart is a bold reinterpretation of Scotland’s classic Wee Heavy style, enriched with ingredients rooted deep in ancient tradition. Brewed with wild heather flowers, pine needles, and oats, this ale bridges the gap between the Pictish brewing practices of antiquity and the rich malt character beloved in modern Scotch ales.
We wanted to create a beer that doesn’t just taste Scottish—it feels Scottish. Braveheart celebrates the spirit of the Picts, the courage of William Wallace, and the legacy of Robert the Bruce. It’s our most historic beer to date.
Braveheart pours a beautiful copper colour with golden highlights. Its aroma blends caramel malt, honeyed heather, and subtle forest pine. Smooth oats lend body and texture, while a warming finish due to its abv offers a resolutely Scottish character.
